Diagnosis Beer with Zach Mack of Alphabet City Beer Company

New feature? We’ll see.

Yesterday I met up with Zach Mack, a co-owner of Alphabet City Beer Company in Manhattan. I interviewed him for a Q & A, which will appear in the next two weeks, but I’ve got an early treat for you all. Before ending the interview, I asked Zach to recommend beers for each of the categories I mentioned in my Name That Beer article. Here are his tried-and-trues:

Ales

Pale Ale: Spider Bite’s First Bite Pale Ale or Blue Mountain Full Nelson Pale Ale

Porter: Wolaver’s Alta Gracia Coffee Porter

Stout: Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro

India Pale Ale: Ballast Point Sculpin IPA

Wheat Beer: Ommegang’s Witte

Lagers

Pilsner: Great Divide Nomad Pilsner

Bock: Breckenridge’s Pandoras Bock or Abita’s Mardi Gras Bock or Schlenklera Urbock

Dunkel: n/a or possibly TBA
